As mentioned, when you have a problem with your device, factory reset is one of the solutions because it will reverse the phone in its original state. That means that all your personal settings including app data and system settings, applications you downloaded and installed, and all your data will be deleted. Many times, the app is causing the problem, from overheating to battery drain, and since it is hard to determine what application is the reason for the issue, factory data reset will wipe it all of, and your device will get a fresh start, without the misbehaving app.

After using your device for some period of time, it is completely normal to see your device to work a bit slower, and once again, performing factory data reset can do the trick.

There are two methods you can use to reset your device.

Method No.1

The first method is through settings, but don’t forget to backup your files first. Now, just follow these steps:

  • Go to Settings
  • Tap Backup & Reset
  • Tap Reset Phone and then click OK.

Method No.2

The second method is used when you cannot turn on your device, or when you are experiencing problems with the screen so you cannot access the Settings. So, you will use the hardware buttons, but you won’t be able to backup your files. Also, once you hit “Factory Data Reset” you won’t be asked if you are sure that you want to do this because the phone will restart.

Turn off your smartphone and hold the Power button and the Volume Down Key. Keep holding the buttons until you see the Boot screen. Use the Volume Down key to scroll to Factory Reset, and when you select that, press the Power Button to confirm.

That’s it. Now you know both methods you can use when you want to perform a factory reset on HTC One.
