How to fix LG G8 Performance issues

Good performance should not be an issue for a flagship phone with 6 GB RAM. The LG G8 is designed to deliver nothing but perfection regarding performance. It runs on Android 9.0 (Pie) and has a Qualcomm SDM855 Snapdragon 855 (7 nm) chipset.

So from a technical point of view, this phone has all it takes to run smoothly without lagging. This has not been the case because several people have reported having performance issues with their LG G8 models. Below are some tips that you can use to fix the lags.

Reboot your phone

Even for a powerful phone like the LG G8, rebooting can always be a remedy for fixing simple lags. Phones lag when the RAM gets overloaded by residue from too many apps. When you open apps and close them, the codes of data generated by these apps end up piling on different sections of your RAM. With time, even a 6 GB RAM may give in to lagging, especially if the phone has not been rebooted for a while. To avoid lags and improve system performance, try rebooting your phone occasionally. This will help clear up some extra RAM space. To reboot your phone, simply long-press the power button and tap” Restart.”

Use the LG Cleaning tool

Fortunately enough, the LG G8 has a built-in smart cleaning tool. This tool can help you clear out some of the junk that may be slowing down your phone's performance. To access the LG smart tool, access your device's Settings, tap General, and then tap Smart Cleaning.

Stop background Processes

If your phone still lags after cleaning out the junk, try disabling some background processes. Background processes may include extra apps that are constantly running even when you are not using them. This may lead to excessive usage of your RAM, which may lead to poor device performance. Disabling the background processes will free up app RAM space and stop the lags.

Update your Apps

Updating your system apps is also an effective way to improve device performance. Your phone may be lagging because some of your apps are outdated. Download and install the latest updates, and your system will automatically start to work much better.

Uninstall Inactive Apps

Apps become inactive when they have not been launched for a long period of time. This only means that you rarely use them, but this doesn’t mean these apps aren’t taking up space on your device. Uninstall these apps and only keep the useful apps. This will help boost the speed of your device.

Clear App Cache

At times, your device may be slow because the apps on your phone have cached up too much data. This may cause the apps to respond very slowly when they are launched. This can be helpful when dealing with apps that get their data from online sources. A good example can be browser applications such as Google Chrome and Firefox. To clear the app's cache, go to Settings, click “Apps & notifications,” and then click “App info.” From here choose an app to clear cache, tap Storage > Clear cache.

Perform a Factory Reset

If your device still lags, consider performing a factory reset as a last resort. Whatever is slowing down the performance of your device will go away after all the data is erased from your phone. This process involves losing all the data on your phone, so ensure that you back up some important things on an external drive or cloud. To reset your phone, go to Settings, tap Backup & reset > Factory Data Reset. The process may take a few minutes, so you will not be able to use your phone during this time.
